I will clear it up for you mate - with facts !!! ( I have had superchips on my MK6 GTI on 2 different rollers)

Superchips map is mild. Yes you get nice torque increase in the low to medium rev range but does drop off quite bad near the top end (especially if you dont have a decent intake to provide more air)

When i had superchips it ran an average of 221bhp and 224bhp on two different rollers (both in spring time, so not overly warm)

Now bhp isnt the be-all and end-all but obviously it helps with power figures. When on superchips the car drove quite nice, but never felt really great.

When i saw Revo had a winter sale on and i would save a massive 30% coming from superchips i couldnt resist. So i stuck a Revo map on in January,  its about the same as superchips upto the mid range, but everything over mid-range Revo just blows it away and keeps pulling hard all the way to redline.

Since then i have been on the dyno and got a 276 bhp average, so it just shows how under powered superchips map is in comparison. plus it had like 40+lbs more torque as well.

If you happy with the way it drive and happy with a mild map then stick with it, if you want more aggressive map then look to change.

I wonder if your car has the correct map from Superchips. The Bluefin website shows a different plot to yours (higher power etc). It is worth questioning.

*EDIT* Ps - there was a load of stuff about correct / incorrect maps which is all bull, superchips gave me 2 different maps to try and they both felt the same.

If you have a massive flat spot in the rev range then you may have incorrect map ( because they were giving incorrect Manual or DSG).

But your is just not as fast / BHP as you expected, so wont be that. For MK6 platform REVO or GIAC all the way....

I know pulman vw use to quote 250bhp when they supplied the vwr conversation originally when it used a superchip map as shown in the old link above.

I've definitely got the right DSG map. He has emailed me a graph for a DSG (will post later) and mine follows the same profile except the example he gave me made 256bhp (from 220). He's asked me to do some boost checks erc using VCDS. but not sure I can be bothered. It feels quicker on the road peak power or not. It's like rocket said, if I want more aggressive map go to REVO. I just worry a little about the longevity of the components and the engine when mapping high like REVO do. Particularly without any other mods.

The only thing REVO increase stress on is your clutch, and that only if your gunning to the redline on every shift, everyday. When i swapped to Revo, it wasnt like "Oh my god, this is a whole new level."

It was more like, "yep, thats defo feels stonger".  Swapping to Revo is not going to blow you away. So i would suggest stick with SC's until Revo sale, or until you get board

The real stress on the clutch with a REVO map is when you are using the torque to pull you up to speed in a high gear say 5th at 40mph. Pulling it hard from low revs to the redline wont put half as much stress on the clutch as my first mention.

Which is why ive never revoed mine. Theres too many storys out there about compromises you have to make for there map.
They imo go for headline figures and not useability within the mechanical restraints of the oem parts.

Revo rewards people who can drive properly, its only at stage 2 it can impact on your clutch and that if your driving like a chump. The standard clutch in the GTI (manual ) isnt that great if were honest.

Mine has been fine on REVO for a while now, not one slip or mishap.
