I had a disagreement with a cataclean rep as he guaranteed that stuff would clean my cat despite me saying a dozen times I don't run one!  It does sound like good stuff but so many have come on the market recently that all have similar claims so which to buy? (My factors sell cataclean so it's a bit cheaper)

I'm still skeptical as it in theory the stuff should atomises in the combustion chamber leaving very little to clean the cat. But I do believe its enough to clean the lambda sensor and any debris in the fueling system.
TBF MPG has gone up, I was doing the Italian tune up when it was in the tank.
470ML is not gonna hurt in the big smoke block, but I reckon sticking some V power diesel would do the same thing as they have just launched its cleaning additives. @ £12.75 and its saving me fueling up at the pump I can't complain really!
It does say for maximum performance use it at least three times a year

I will give cataclean a shot next week and will get some exhaust readings before and after (I run it with a tank of v power every so many tanks and it does get driven hard every so often). It's worth a try for the money (at trade)

Since sticking in £20.00 after Cataclean I managed to get 134 Miles till red light came on.
So @ £1.34 per liter which worked out roughly 42.4MPG around town not bad for a two tonne brick.  :lipsrsealed:

I am going to try this next week (I know this week I got 38.1mpg from my house to Humberside airport and I'm due to do the same trip Thursday next week, so will see if it gives me any different)

I hope so as under 40mpg from a 2.0 8v slug is disappointing!!

Redex was the only thing ECP had in stock today. Filled the fuel filter on a 3.0 Iveco Daily with it then the rest of the housing with diesel. Instantly took it for a massive hammering and watched all the soot come out.

Result: Injector stopped tapping and it's got some balls back in the thing plus the smoke it was producing all the time is clearing up now.

Whole aim of a engine flush is to remove deposits that build up in the engine.  Now, get me if im wrong, but you dont really want deposits floating around your engine and blocking important galleries.  If people have looked at insides of engines, you will find that 99% of them are usually pretty clean inside oil wise.

EGR cleaners are never going to work,  For a start whether they go in the fuel or the oil...neither of this has anything to do with the EGR valve.  Best way to clean that is to remove it and clean it out manually with some petrol and a brush to break down the carbon deposits.

Same with the fuel stuff, you dont really want to be breaking down impurities (if any of them actually do it) and then them travelling along your fuel pipes and blocking an injector.

next time you have a terrorclean or a sales rep for forte, ask them what project they would recommend for cleaning a TSFI engine deposits on the valves etc.  If any of them give a answer they are wrong as its impossible to clean any of the intake system on a TSFI due to the direct fuel injection into combustion chambers.

IMHO, all these 'cleaner' products are a big con.

I agree with the oil flush even though VW do this and BMW in all services!
I've heard that if you do use it then you need to do an oil change at least twice afterwards to get the oil thinners out of the block. I've heard horror stories with engine flush thinning out the oil too much, or leaving inside the engine for too long stripping and grinding metal. Even oil seals going afterwards causing sump/gasket leaks.

As for Cataclean it was so little that went into the fuel tank, whether it helps or not is no different than the additives they stick into the fuel like shell V power stuff.
I'll wait until BoneBrady does a more scientific result of checking emissions before and after as I've already stated I've cleaned out the EGR valve already before sticking the Cataclean in.

Chuff no whistles you own a big old smoke machine, so fess up you must have used a product at some point?
