This may be something most people already know, but I didn't until the other day, so someone might be interested to hear...
Some time ago I had a Toyota Auris as a Hire Car, and it had a good stereo. With my iPod attached I could randomly select any track, and if I heard one I liked I could press a button and switch it to "play this album" mode. I tried to find out if the RCD 310 could do this, but it
appeared it couldn't. If I had the setting on "MIX" it would play all the tracks in alphabetical order. "MIX FLD" or "MIX ALL" would simply randomise everything.
However, I generally always have the iPod itself set to play All Songs, shuffled, and the RCD 310 was obviously using those settings. I recently went into the iPod menu and selected Music -> Albums -> Shuffle, and I noticed that plugged into the car, only "MIX" and "MIX FLD" were the available options. "MIX" would play the selected album, "MIX FLD" would randomly select any track on the entire iPod. So if I hear something I like on "MIX FLD", I change this to "MIX" and it then continues to play the album.
Can't shuffle the album tracks, and when it gets to the last track it jumps to the next album in alphabetical order, but it's closer to what I want from the stereo. Had to laugh though...had the car 15 months before I realised I could do this!
