Fitting a Parrott to a Mk6
« on: 03 March 2014, 21:02 »
Hi Guys,

Newbie owner and forum member here so I apologise for any stoopid questions before I ask them!

The GTI I've bought hasn't got bluetooth so I've ordered a Parrot CK3100. I've just realised that I might need some sort of special lead/adaptor extra to the basic kit but I'm not too sure of what!

Can anyone advise?

Cheers

Have you thought about calling the people you ordered the kit from and asking them to include the right adaptor with the kit?

All the kits on ebay appear to have a modified ISO connector that hooks the Parrot kit up.

Are you going to fit this?  Do you know what you're doing?  You don't appear to know how to spell Parrot, so I'm a bit concerned this will all end in a fiery mess and a lot of broken plastic.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Wow that's quite a friendly welcome for a new member! Please do accept my humble apologies for the typo in the title, you will presumably have noticed that I spelt it correctly in the main message? I'm curious how you make the link from a small typo to technical incompetence? If you related your assumption of my incompetence to the question I'm asking then fine.....but you didn't!

And no I'm not intending to fit it myself, because no I don't know what I'm doing (or even claim to for that matter). So therefore I'm sincerely hoping not to witness either a "fiery mess" or "a lot of broken plastic".
I haven't had a chance to speak to the people supplying the kit yet, but of course I will be doing this, I just wanted to touch base with people who know what they're talking about on here while I'm waiting to get a chance to contact them.

Thanks again for the helpful tips, your sunny demeanour and grammatical criticism has been no end of help!

Cheers

DH is like marmite, you either love him or you hate him. Also when you find it in your pants, your heart stops and then you realise it's not sh!t and are somewhat relieved, but puzzled. That's DH, that is.

DH tries to be funny on forums by putting people down. Don't worry about him.

Can I ask why a Parrot?

Mate has one in his Bluemotion and he wishes he just had a better radio that supports hands free.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

Maybe he needs to try harder than most for reasons of insecurity!? Every forum has a smart4rse keyboard warrior and I think I've already found this forum's!

I went for Parrot purely as I know a couple of people who have them and rate them quite highly. I do know somebody who hates his but he admits it was a bit of a bodged installation so that could be the problem. I did look at changing the radio to a model that has bluetooth, but to be honest the golf is our second car so didn't want to spend oodles on it.

Thanks for your feedback.

Oh yeah, I'm totally insecure.

And quite intolerant of stupid questions, asked without thought.

You've bought a device that hooks into your stereo.  Of course it needs a bloody adaptor.  How else will it interact with the stereo?  Telepathic communication? Just going on ebay and searching would make that obvious from the pictures alongside the kits listed!

If you're not fitting it, why aren't you buying the kit from the fitter?

Nothing worse than turning up to fit something bought by someone else, only to find they've bought the wrong thing and you've wasted your time going to fit it.

Oh dear you've got i bad haven't you wee man.

So what if you're "intolerant of stupid questions". Being intolerant is your issue to deal with not mine. As for it being a stupid question, what is a stupid question exactly? One that you in your esteemed prowess knows the answer to while us simple mortals kneel at the font that is Diamonte Bell?

Yes it does hook in to the stereo, how does it do that you ask? Well funny old thing, but not being an auto-sparky/audio expert i have absolutely no idea, its really not my area of expertise. In my experience if you dont know something that you would like to know, guess what one of the best ways to find out is? (Someone of your extreme intellect and wisdom might struggle with this concept), yes i ask someone.....controversial eh?! You use ebay to research things, i use it to buy things.....novel concept eh?

Im not buying it from the fitter as he suggested somewhere that has a deal on them. Is that ok with you? Its brand new sealed in a box from a known chain of outlets, again i hope this meets with your agreement?

I must admit to being baffled by your bizarrely agressive tone. Im a well known member on several car forums, the vast majority of which are populated by friendly members only too willing to share there knowledge. The attitude that you obviously get a kick out of conveying wouldn't be welcome on many forums. Forums by their nature rely on new joiners to grow, likewise they rely on members leaning on other members for advice/experience. You obviously find this offensive which feeds your intollerance, so why are you here? But if you have to be and go on to read something that your superiority cant tollerate, then why not just button it rather than spouting on like the keyboard warrior that you aspire to be?

You're obviously pretty convinced by your own importance and wealth of knowledge, as long as you are then well done to you. Unfortunately im not so convinced, he who shouts loudest..........

Back on topic, why are you fitting a parrot when for not much more money you could retrofit the factory bluetooth?

Have a look in the Mk6 Maintenace Section to see how easy it is to do.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
