Mk5 Golf Canbus

Hi, I have a MK5 Golf 08 plate. I currently have the standard radio with MP3 connection I think the radio is a RCD 310. I am contemplating changing the radio for a RNS 510.
I have read a lot about the battery being drained on models fitted with an earlier canbus; however I am not sure if my car has the earlier or late version, could someone advise how I would know which version of the canbus i have.

Only true way to tell is to scan the car with vcds and then check the can bus part number against the list on mygti.com.
