Latest update:

Suspension squeak now solved. Very happy!

Just wanted to share the TPI (Technical Product Information) code number for this fault:

2035958/4 (release date 15/4/2014)

This is the one where the shock absorber cover (aka gator) has come away thus causing squeaking/creaking/chafing noises from the front suspension at low speed and manovering.

If you're suffering the same problem get your car into the nearest dealer for warranty work.

**Apologies - I know there are two threads on this issue.  However I've posted on both**

Can anyone tell me what the TPI says please? I have written to VW about this issue and will be speaking to a representative at their request next week to discuss the issue. My dealer tells me they are unaware of a problem.

Be aware due to the hot weather, lack of rain there will be some moaning and groaning from our cars!
Audi S1 gone, awaiting 1.5tsi r-line, pan roof, led lights front and rear, active dash, 18" jurva alloys and a dealer fitted Oettinger roof spoiler in tornado red.

Hi, Can anybody help please.
I'm looking at the question of fastening the lower end of the front shock absorber gaiter with VW Customer Services, who are being very helpful. They have asked my dealer to have another look and the dealer has put a MK7 GTI on a ramp. They say the gaiter would be stretched too far if it was clipped and there must be different styles of shock absorber.
Can anyone who has had their loose MK7 GTI gaiters clipped at the bottom give me the name of the dealer and if possible contact info please? Customer Services are trying to get more info. from anywhere.

Thanks.

@Marnie This problem is known to VW and has an been identified with its own TPI number plus images and description on how to fix for their mechanics. Please send me a DM and I'll help you all I can :)

Hi Hawaii-Five-O
Sorry, I'm new to this. What's a DM and how do I send it? I have given Customer Services the TPI numbers mentioned on this forum along with jpgs of the loose gaiter. The first one from last year they didn't think was relevant and the second one released in April they said might be relevant which is why they asked the dealer to take another look. As the dealer is sticking to their view that it can't be done the Customer Services rep. is hunting around for more information. I asked him if he has asked VW support in Germany but he said he'd rather pursue it with his technicians first. Any contact info, for a dealer that has done this would be welcome.

Thanks

OK. A conclusion of sorts. First off, the TPIs referred to in this thread refer to the top of the gaiter being out of position causing the gaiter to sit at an angle with the possibility of being caught in the spring, which is not my issue. After several conversations by VW Customer Services with their technicians and speaking to VW in Crewe, who were supposed to have clipped the lower end of the gaiter for someone on this forum, they state that no new MK7 GTIs have the lower end of the gaiter clipped they are all hanging loose. Probably all Golf MK7s. Their view is that this won't cause any problems. I don't think I'm going to get anywhere pursuing this issue but still think the part on the shock absorber leg is to keep the gaiter central in the spring as there is a square channel at the bottom of the gaiter for a clip.

Got mine booked in for next Tuesday for creaking noise coming from the drivers side front (worse at low speed and manoeuvring). Only done 3500 miles, so not that impressed. Mentioned the TPI that has been talked about and they said they were aware but there is no fix. So will be interesting to see what they find or do.
Gone :Mk7 GTI with Performance Pack, Pure White, Dynaudio & Extended Warranty.
Arrived: Mk7.5 PP DSG Tungsten Silver

Car been in today and it's the suspension mount bearings that are causing the noise. No spares so will have to wait till next Monday before I can get the car back in. Hopefully this will cure the problem.
