Rear beam centring plates
« on: 24 February 2014, 22:56 »
Evening guys,

As the title sates, has anyone used any rear beam centring plates? I've done many hours of searching and can't find any for mk3, found plenty for mk4.

I'm not after ones which don't bolt to the beam and lift the hub, I don't personally trust them after a mates incident. I've always preferred the type which you unbolt the mounting bracket from the chassis and bolt on, then bolt the beam to them. That's what you do on the mk4, just wondering if you can do it on mk3, never really closely inspected the beam mounting point so I'm not sure if it's detachable like a mk4.

Here's an example of what I mean http://www.psituning.com/product.php/21116/ecs_wheel_centering_plates_mk4_tt_mk1

On a MK3 the brackets that bolt to the chassis that the beam mount to are removable. If i remember rightly they have 3 bolts holding each one to the chassis.

I may be talking out of my **** but can you not just elongate the holes on each bracket
to achieve what you are trying to achieve .

Taking or removing metal from them is not really a good idea, they need a lot of strength around the mounting holes.

whoop whoop, I've found some at last and ball joint extenders and track rod flip kit, been after these bits for a while! quite expensive but at least they will be worth it.
