New Golf GTI ordered and new forum member!

Hi all, great to be here!

On the 29th of January I ordered my new Golf GTI with the following spec:

5 door manual
Perf Pack
DCC
Dynaudio
Park assist
Rear view camera
Pure white

I managed to get a decent deal from a local dealer so went for it after 2 test drives. It will be replacing a 55 plate mk5 GTI. I have a confirmed build week 10 so not too long to wait (probably will get it early April). I'm excited like a 12 year old kid

Quite a jump forwards then have you driven one anymore than the test drives? What were your impressions?

I've has mine 2 weeks today and not got to grips with it yet, staggeringly capable cars

Congrats on the new order, I traded my 55 plate Mk5 GTI in for my Mk7, good choice on the options. Wish the rear view camera had been available when I ordered.  Not a bad waiting time either to be honest, fingers crossed

No, I just had the 2 test drives to get an idea of the car. What I noticed straight away was how nimble and easy to drive the car was compared to my car. It feels much lighter and more comfortable even in sport mode (with DCC). But you're right, there's a lot of new tech that wasn't there in my car. Learning is part of the fun .

How did you manage to get a bespoke order so fast (was it a pre-allocated slot that had not gone confirmed when you placed the order)? Mine is BW8 but was ordered on 1st November!

The tracker also updated me to BW10, I only ordered last Tuesday. 5 dr PP tornado with DCC. Im still not 100% certain I will go through with it. I have a really good deal on a new Audi TT Quattro. I love the look of the audi but prefer the drive of the golf. Its a really hard decision.

When I placed the order they said delivery mid-May, but last week the dealer said confirmed build week 10 (delivery early April). He was surprised too. I think they waited to have a certain number of UK cars before starting building them together.
