That doesn't look like the software I've see. On any golf so far?

Hi, that picture is from Google just to show a picture of what it looks like but its the Genuine VW Alpine navigation unit that comes in the mk7

Are you sure? I've never heard of any genuine "Alpine unit" for the MK7. There's only 2 factory NAV options that I'm aware of in the MK7 - the DNS and the DNS Pro (larger screen).

I think Alpine is the manufacturer VW use for the infotainment systems in the mk7, wasn't it something like siemens or blaupunkt for the RNS in the mk6?

That picture is of a basic head unit with a nav box plugged in so not the best choice of google pic tbh.

sorry for the lack of pictures or the confusion, I just thought I would get a picture off google to help determine which unit it is? I will upload pictures of actual item in a short while

Very interesting, can honestly say I've never heard of such things. What mapping service do they actually use though? Can't seem to find anything on the listing.

You'd have to want satnav on your OEM screen quite desperately to get this!

Possibly just what the sticker says on it when removed? Made by Alpine for VW?  Screenshots are confusing though, I agree...

If he hasn't already, tell him he needs to get the disc drive out the glovebox as well mate, it's all part of the system and one won't work without the other.

And apparently it won't work in another car either. VW had a spate of thefts of the RNS510 units, so they are now linked to the car... until someone cracks this.
