Never been a fan of French cars or is the reliability issues all wife's tales ?

I had a Renault 21 that I had for 4 years and did approx 40k miles in and no problems
A Peugeot 405 GTX that did over 70k miles with me and never let me down
My Pug 405 Mi16 has done over 50k miles with me and only let me down once when the alternator packed up.

Yes with all of them I had issues due to the high mileage like wheel bearings and driveshafts but those are just normal replacements.
So in my experience wives tales indeed.

I had a Peugeot 405 SRI. It had done 100k when I bought it. It had rattly trim and felt a bit loose, but after another 60k it never let me down and never got any worse.

I followed that with a Citroen ZX Volcane. That was even better, although I didn't keep it that long due to getting a new job with a company car.

Go to France and all they drive are French cars. They are all fairly low spec cars tho'. I think the French do cheap, basic cars really well. It's when you get higher up the spec list with more things that can break that they struggle.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

i replaced my mk3 with an lcr..looked at all the hot hatch options and the cupra r ticks most of the boxes for me...hard to beat really..respond really well to tuning if your interested in that, 250 +bhp from stage 1..plus they dont attract much attention as you dont need to drive the nuts off them to get the performance
