blue temp sender ...
« on: 29 August 2005, 19:56 »
hello

am i right in saying that when the plug from the blue temp sender is removed the revs should rise???

if so, when removing the plug from mine the revs do not alter, is the temp sender at fault?????

thanx

cool.

so a duff sender, could this cause a poor idle?  and even stalling on start up?

also she's often idling at 1400rpm ??

the idling at 1400 i dont know ive had 2 8v's and every now and then they idle at 2000 for few seconds or till you rev her on start up no clue why, but yes the blue sender not working can cause those symptoms there not expensive about £4/5 so worth changing to see if there is any improvement.

When disconnecting the blue temp sender be sure to rev the engine three times over 2,000 to allow the ecu to go in to set-up mode ( if your doing any adjustments) and also do the same after plugging the sender back in and then allow engine to idle for a minute or so before switching off .

Also check the wiring to the micro switches on the throttle body , if they are broken it can cause excessive idle speeds ( revving its nuts off )

Hope this is of some help

It should run like a bag of spanners or not at all when cold, when hot probably wont make as much of a difference.  If you try & start it wioth the sender unplugged it doesn't like it much either

High idle could also be caused by the idle switch under the throttle body, make sure there is a distinct 'click' from the throttle body when the throttle is closed.
