RCD510
« on: 30 January 2014, 19:53 »
Hi folks, wondered if you can help me ?

Purchased an RCD510 last year as an upgrade to the RCD310, good piece of kit but I'm having a problem

With the sound quality from the iPod connection, sounds bloody awful compared to the radio and CD playing

The same music, any ideas?

Cheers

Stan

No difference in sound quality on mine at all.  As said, check your MDI cable.

To be fair we are both working the assumption mdi is being used could have it in the aux socket in this case i'd say again dodgy cable or connection at eithier end

Ah, yes the Aux socket, forgot about that - redundant in my car, never use the thing.

Have you tried messing about with the rcd510 settings at all?  Or try doing a hard reset on your iPod.  I had some communication issues with mine and that resolved them.  Know this is not the same issue but can't hurt to try.

Also check your aux input levels in the media set up menu.  If it is set to 'high' it can cause a lot of sound distortion, though I would expect this to affect cd's too.

Media - Set Up button - Aux input level - choice of low, medium or high.  Medium is the better setting.
