I didn't quiz him I was just picking car up and he mentiond the whitworm and that they could get wheels in so if I asked I'm sure I could if found out who does them.

I suppose ur trusting cough cough ... That they would be up to VW standard if they are supplying them and I suppose you could always reject if not!

Not at all pot holes, grit, salt, wives lol

My Vancouvers are 4 years old. We have managed to drive around pot holes, kept them well sealed and protected against grit and salt and to be fair, my wife mainly drives the car and has done a pretty good job of looking after them. There is one tiny bit of corrosion that appeared by the center cap over a year ago, but I keep putting a blob of wax on it and it's never got any worse.

So it does go to show that it is possible to drive a car and not damage the wheels.

i have always tried to be careful with my wheels on previous cars so much so that i have never had to get wheels refurbed before, but after 18 months with my monza's they are a mess with whiteworm and scuffs they are just so unforgiving as the tyre is so flush.

Glendales are just as bad.  Three of mine are marked, two of which are my fault but the third was down to taking evasive action at a roundabout when a car strayed into wrong lane.  I would have stood my ground but last time I did that someone went into the side of me.

You try to be careful but sometimes it's just bad luck.   A pampered car that does relatively few miles is probably going to fare better than daily workhorse driver.

Are you referring to my Red Golf as being pampered? Yes the Green one is, but the Red one is far from that at the moment. Both my daily cars get used as workhorses, just carefully.

No, not specifically.  I have no idea how often you use your red golf or what kind of mileage it does each year.  I simply think that the more a car is out on the road, the more chances there are of some damage being inflicted.

You are absolutely right. However many people will use that as an excuse for not being as careful as they might. The same sort of people that don't clean their cars because they will only get dirty again. When a neighbour suggested that I was wasting my time washing my car, as it would only get dirty when I went out in it again, I asked him if he wiped his arse after his poop that morning.

  Did you really put it that politely.

Off topic but speaking of neighbours, my neighbours two doors up are moving over your way (Shropshire) today.  The wife comes from there and is missing it.
