Boot Mats
« on: 19 January 2014, 08:55 »
Getting my new GTD soon and keen to get something to protect the boot floor from spills and maybe the occasional time the dog may be in. Thinking original VW is best for fit?

What  has anyone bought? Might be good to also have something to protect the bumper if the dog is getting in. How does the bumper protector bit fold away ?

Also what did you pay?

I don't have a dog but I remember someone in the mk6 section had a really good boot protector that had a fold out flap to protect the bumper. Can't remember who the manufacturer was, but it was similar to this one, which looks as if it would give you all the protection you'd need from your dog getting in and out of the car.

Got one on Amazon for about £30

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Volkswagen-Golf-VII-2012-Onwards/dp/B00BJ3HSOS/

The fit is perfect, the only issue being since the floor able to go lower and higher you need to remove it to raise/lower.  Likewise to access underneath it needs to come out.

It's not a matt - it's shinier - as the VW one.  Cheaper though and since we have an open fire I often put a bag of logs in the boot, cleaning the debris out is a million times easier!

Check these guys out, they are a bit pricy but you wouldn't regret the extra spend:-

Mine on the mk6 was around £100, you have a to pay a little extra for the bumper flap:-

Always handy if you have anyone, sorry anything you wanna get rid of too

I have the genuine vw version. It's a perfect fit but only works when the boot floor is at the higher level.

Thanks everyone. I have used the Hatchbag items on several cars in the past when I had a mucky Spaniel who loved to walk in the forest. They are fantastic products. Don't think I need anything so extreme now as my current dog is a much "cleaner" Labrador who will hardly walk through a puddle.

I haven't got my GTD yet, can someone explain about the high and low level of the boot floor and how this affects the boot mat.

The Amazon one does look good as I had noticed it on Ebay as well. Anyone any pics of the genuine VW items and how much are they? Do some of the genuine ones have a bumper protector?

I have the flexible boot liner from VW for my GTI.  It is great at protecting the carpet in the boot but I have found it does not fit flush when the split level floor is at it's lowest setting.  Only fits perfectly on the highest setting.
