GTD....power upgrades
« on: 13 January 2014, 23:28 »
Hi all,

I have a GTD DSG. It's running a stage 1 remap with DPF delete.

What is my next step to up the power some more? Will I need to DSG remapped to handle the extra power?

Thanks

Dan

Don't know what your next step is for more power or whether your car is old enough to need an MOT. However, removal of the DPF may cause you an issue, come MOT time.

After Feb 2014, removal of the DPF looks as if it will mean an MOT fail, and may result in a fine, as removal of the DPF will mean non-compliance with the euro emissions standards ; see article at the link below;

Have you got the DPF delete map as I believe this gives slightly more power, circa 220bhp.

Yes it had the DPF delete and map at the same time.

It's not slow to be honest but just wanted to see if there is anything else I can do.

Anyone running 'stage 2'? If so, what mods have you done?

As mentioned above I would perhaps be more concerned at this point about your DPF delete.  This is going to be catching a lot of people out post feb!

Probably looking at a hybrid or new turbo and associated upgrades e.g fueling and intercooler. Probably not worth it with the MPG drop?

Then theirs handling upgrades too.

As others have mentioned, no dpf might be a problem in the future.

Most people know a friendly tester. There are enough petrol cars running around without cats. I can't see DPF's being much different, except newer cars that smoke on the road are going to stand out like sore thumbs.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
