Hi guys =) new gti kid on the block!
« on: 11 January 2014, 14:09 »
Hi there guys, not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry if its not! My name is ash, I am looking to pick up a mk5 golf gti tomorrow 56 plate. Cant wait!!

Just wanted to ask you experienced owners out there on what I should look for for an 8 year old car as I am not sure, like what is the most common fault with these? I will search this forum now and do my own research but any tips will be much appreciated.

heres a link...

Hi

I've just got my golf on a 55 plate. There's lots of info on the boards and people have been helpful with tips as this is my first golf and I know nothing lol.

I was advised to check with vw re a recall for coil packs and check if it has been done. The cam follower can go and also check if the cam belt has been changed. They can rust on the wheel arches as well.

Look forward to seeing a pic :)

Glad you're enjoying it lol. I know what you mean about other golf's as I've been doing the same, not seen many gti's though.

Was 18 a long time ago lmao my mates thought I was having an early mid life crisis when I got mine ;)

I wanted a mk5 GTI at 18 but settled for a mk2 instead. Now I'm living the dream 7 years later. And as for getting a remap, you will. The extra power is great but it's the way it uses that power and delivers it to you is so much more enjoyable. It's one of the best things I did to my Golf.
