DIY turbo inlet pipe
« on: 05 January 2014, 22:03 »
Has anybody got a picture of an inlet pipe they have made themselves, alloy bends, silicone joiners etc?

1.8t in my mk2 bay with silicone TIP at the min but is hindered by my inter cooler pipework.

Obviously after seeing the gain to be had from oversized TIPs, I could have a silicone reducer straight off turbo, compressor inlet sized, straight up to say 80mm, if they make such thing, then have an alloy 90degree bend, then connect part of my existing silicone TIP up to the alloy bend to get the n75/dv ports.

This would make my life a lot easier and maybe help the turbo spool, not having a 90 silicone bend right next to turbo?

Enough talk, let's see some pics if you understand my description :afro:

First part is going to be to find such a drastic silicone reducer, 80mm > 45mm...

But no, they all seem relatively subtle differences on eBay.

Badger5 TIPs must have this sized variation on though, they strap onto k03s compressor and increase to an 80mm bore, been done, must be out there somewhere

Don't really fancy paying that much to butcher one though! The whole idea will be to lengthen the distance between the 90degree bend from compressor housing to aide with IC pipework, so just buying one of them really isn't an option  :undecided:
