I've had my rear door and quarter panel painted after someone thought it would be nice to speed past my car and put two huge stone chips in. took it to the approved VW shop up here in Sunderland and must say they've done a fantastic job. even the detailer said it was a cracking job as he couldn't tell where the damage had been until I pointed it out. thing is if it's approved VW body shop and it's not right you take it back until it's right plus with it being approved the paint warranty remains intact. I know not all body shops are good but the mill car clinic at boldon are very good.

Last year I had front passenger wing resprayed and blended into door, after someone put a dent in it and did not stop (mk6 deep black pearl).  Used approved VW body shop and they did a cracking job and you really cannot tell at all and I'm very, very fussy.   I had to go through insurance but on renewal, am paying same as previously.

The guy has flat out refused to pay for vw body shop to repair  if all else fails then it will have to be insurance.

Do you mean if it comes down to a bodyshop repair he will go through his insurance rather than his wallet, or he will outright refuse to cooperate for anything other than a smart repair and you're assuming you'll have to go through your insurance?

You've already done the hard part - admission of guillt. If it comes down to bodyshop then his insurance will have to sort it - at a place of your choosing.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Should have clarified, he will go through his insurance.
