Sorry to read that your new car has been marked, but I'd go with a a smart repair. I've had several done on door dings and they've all been amazing.
I only once used an approved body shop to fill\paint\blend a door ding and the result was really disappointing and I could see the slight colour  mis-match in certain lights.

Another thing to take into consideration is masking marks and overspray. I've had stuff repaired by approved bodyshops and it had both. Now you shouldn't get this with a smart repair so I'd go with this option every time.

I don't want to go the route of the vw preferred body shop as I'm dubious about the quality of work. Gareth at detail my ride doesn't think a pdr repair will do as the chip has gone through to the metal and unfortunately it will need redoing. I have spoken to russ at midlands car care in Walsall and he has advised that they have an approved body shop they work with that may be able to assist and I will call him on Monday to see what he has to say. Other than that the only option I have is insurance claim and that is a a last resort.

Anyone know any pdr guys around Brum.    Undecided if I will be keeping the gtd after three years or selling and changing but either way I want a car I'm 100% happy with.

Remember that a PDR and a SMART repair are 2 different things.

The P in PDR stands for paintless, meaning a touchup would be requied after it, whereas a smart repair is a painted repair over a very small area.

Your earlier post was from a PDR guy, worth speaking to a smart repairer too.

Yep,

SMART is a repair using bodywork repair and paint techniques, so the guy has paint mixing skills etc.

PDR is PAINTLESS Dent repair - these guys either Pull or push dents out, depending on location of the damage.

It is NOT a PDR guy you want here as the paint is damaged, it is a smart repair job.  Try finding a few local to you and then email them a good detailed picture of the damage for advice.

As said,  get quotes and recommendations.  If you are not happy with the quality, you can always go to a Bodyshop afterwards.

I've had my rear door and quarter panel painted after someone thought it would be nice to speed past my car and put two huge stone chips in. took it to the approved VW shop up here in Sunderland and must say they've done a fantastic job. even the detailer said it was a cracking job as he couldn't tell where the damage had been until I pointed it out. thing is if it's approved VW body shop and it's not right you take it back until it's right plus with it being approved the paint warranty remains intact. I know not all body shops are good but the mill car clinic at boldon are very good.

I have been quoted 95 by autoscratch.co.uk this is from a google search I would rather use a Recommended smart repair. The guy has flat out refused to pay for vw body shop to repair  if all else fails then it will have to be insurance. I don't want a half assed job. I'm waiting for Gareth at detail my rise to come back to me and also midlands car care to come back to me both are highly recommended so I will see what they say tomorrow then take it from there.
