indeed they are pretty cheap to replace not so easy with engine in but you will have no trouble.
Just a quick question how hard was it to remove your oil heat exchanger thingy to the left of crank sensor oil filter screws onto it.

Bloody difficult!

Its got a thin nut on the big hollow tube screw thread thing that the filter screws onto.
You have to undo that to get the oil cooler off so you can get to the other two bolts behind it.

I am discovering that this is not an easy engine to work on as everything is either obscured or behing something that you have to get off first!
I only managed to get to that thin nut when I had pulled off the car front

To remove and refit the housing should only take between 30 mins and a hour before spending time refilling and removing air locks.
Just make sure you have a new metal gasket for the block if you remove the housing, heat exchanger should come with a new rubber seal.
It may be worth replacing the engine oil with the filter and thermostat at the same time as you will need to renew the coolant.

Also the crank position sensor is not to bad to change once the starter is removed with the front engine mount.

That really is a joke mate!
One nut on the starter motor was impossible to get at due to the fan motor!
I dont see how you can say its easy!

I've heard so many people complain about changing the crank shaft sensor but once id whipped the front engine mount bracket out of the way i didn't thin it was all that bad tbh. :undecided:

Not easy!!! You need to remove the front engine mount (well on my 8v i had to) also dont get a cheapo make as you will replace it before you crank your car. I have a febi fitted to mine now and its been good.
