Warning lights
« on: 26 December 2013, 15:01 »
Just not long washed my Gti, when finished I started it up and was going to reverse it out the drive then the hand brake wouldn't release automatically!!
So ended up doing it manually, which worked ok. I mind and seeing a thread about this issue so I left the car for 20mins and worked no bother
So about 30 mins later I had a trip to tesco and parked at the bottom end away from other cars,
So on my return I started up the car(keyless start) and 6 error messages appeared

Auto hold error
ACC error
Tyre pressure error
And a couple of others which I don't know

So I pulled away from the car park up to the house and stopped the car, and switched it back on and the warning lights were gone!!!
Would this be something worth taking up with my dealer??
And what's the issue with the hand brake after you wash the car?
Will that be an ongoing issue??

Happy Boxing Day
Doug

Hi Doug,

The breaks seems to be a bit sticky the first time after a wash - I have found it just needs a bit more oomph to get away that first time.

Re. The lights.  I would be inclined to wait and see if the error re-appears before taking into the dealers.

Did you put your seatbelt on when you reversed it out the drive? The brake won't release automatically if you don't have your seatbelt on

I've had the automatic brake failure/hill-hold failure warnings. Functionality was restored on next trip, had a few issues since that didn't trigger a warning in the MFD. First time the dealer just reset the error listings. When it happened again about a week later, a sensor and the switch were replaced.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

If they stick in the future just get the watering can and pour some water on the disc and pads you will find they then release easily
Golfgti build quality is average at best.
