Help with silicon hoses
« on: 23 December 2013, 13:02 »
So iv had my golf Gti 1.8t for about 6 months and I have the fault code 17705 so iv found a split pipe but I have also found that the previous owner has bodged a copper pipe and t piece where the silicon hoses should go. I want to replace the hole lot with the proper hoses but not sure what they are called can anyone help?

All of that pipework looks to have been messed with, can you post a picture showing more of the engine bay? Also what is your engine code?

The hose coming off the rocker cover is just a breather pipe, silicone replacements can be had for about £30 off ebay but you need to make sure the rest of the pipework is ok before buying it.

Is there still the 'hockey puck' fitted? It's fitted behind the diverter valve and should look like this:

The breather hose with the red tape wrapped around it is common for splitting and should look like this:

Yours looks like it's been bodged instead of replaced, this is the hose that you need if you want to sort it:

But it looks like the pipe it joins to has been changed as well. Can you take the lower engine cover off and get a picture of the corrugated pipe that goes underneath it?

It's all a mess! I'm wondering if there is a catch can hidden away under the lower engine cover somewhere...

If it's missing it's just called a breather tube I think.

If it's the one highlighted in the picture above it's part number: 06A 103 213 BG

All the info above is from here:
