Gearbox oil seal leak help
« on: 20 December 2013, 13:33 »
So my gearbox is leaking from the oil seal from right side, is it a just matter of taking out the drive shaft, unbolting the flanged shaft, tapping it out, and replacing the oil seal?

my driveshafts have being on and off a few times and last time I did the seals (whilst the shafts were off), just ensure you use some nutlock on the bolts and it should be fine to reuse the old bolts (i put all new bolts on mine as it snapped a couple)

I would drop the oil. Then again it's perfect time to do a change as mine was well past its best

I personally thought the were bit of a pig to do with the gearbox in, I personally would remove the box and fit them that way

One last question befor i order stuff from vw,my flange shaft green sleeve is kinked from previous owner,is this just a matter of taking the old sleeve out and replacing it with a new one or is it compressed inside, thanks in advance :)
