I built mine with forged rods and sleep sound, end of. Unless of course you get a steady and cheap supply of 1.8t engines, I've a few friends from Poland and according to them these 1.8t go for peanuts and unless your chasing 400+ bhp its more cost effective to replace the engine (assuming you're doing the work yourself)

Where you get the rods from?
How much?
And what make mate?
Also are they riffle drilled?

£500 is not much for such an integral part of your engine. That's not even enough for a set of tyres or for my front tubular wishbones...

And still less than the cost of labour to fit them to the 1.8t in a basic rebuild.

Cylinder pressures bend rods.

Spiking a shed load of boost will bend OEM rods, regardless of power or  torque,

Rods should see you at 350... But there's always a risk with having over 280 in my opinion.

I have everything (except the rods) set up for around 400bhp. I will map it to around 300-320 torque and later I will do the rods

I got my rods from integrated engineering, they were rifle drilled, it has been a while now and I can't remember how much it was but I don't think the price has changed.

How much for fitting? Presume its not too easy to do yourself?
