People from Essex?!?! That's rarity on here, I'd be able to tell you nothing about under the bonnet apart from there's an engine in there but I would most defiantly be up for a meet  :smiley:

Thought I was gonna get asked asl then haha!

I'm in Upminster so not far from lakeside at all !

I'd say a lakeside meet would be good but not sure because of the Christmas shopping, I don't own a mk5 but if we could get loads fo different people to come that'd be cool! I know someone with another mk3 that'd come so that is already four of us  :smiley:

asl, I haven't heard that expression for a while lol.

Lakeside would be ok but it's a bit of nightmare there at the moment due to Christmas. I only have one mate who is into cars but he doesn't have a VW. He's got a Ford Capri 2.8i but he's up for a laugh.

Can't think of anywhere else apart from Festival in Basildon lol

Keep me posted on if you guys do an Essex meet, failing somewhere like Lakeside, what about finding a pub with a reasonable sized car park (or a pub with a public car park near by) so we got somewhere to grab a drink, food and chat, plus hide if the weather turns bad?

Other things to check for are the diverter valve (bit involved) and the PCV valve (really simple). Check out this guide for full details and how-to;

Also, a very serious one to check is the high pressure fuel pump cam follower. If this goes, well... it's expensive, lets just say that. Guide for that job is here;

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,8339.0.html

All surprisingly straight forward jobs, even I've managed to do them! (Check out my project thread, link in my signature) (Yes, shameless self advertisement!)

Hey Mike will have a look at those links later on.

Can't think of any pubs with large car parks near me have you any ideas?

Back in the day Southend would've been ideal but sadly no more lol.

Quick question, my boot is leaking after all the rain yesterday, do you think it's a leaky seal?

Cheers

Leaky seal is most likely, have a good check around, I'm sure it'll be obvious where it's from. Think the new rubber seal is pretty cheap, just a bit time consuming to fit.

Ah, a fellow Saturday night Southend veteran! Those where the days, up and down the sea front, hundreds of cars every weekend. Think the rise in petrol prices killed that off pretty quickly... :sad:

Southend used to be great lol, I used to go down there with the girls in the XR2 lol.

I had a look at those guides you sent, far too confusing for me ;)
