Gents can you tell me what were the options on a new 8v gti June 1991. My new car has 14 inch BBS wanted to know if this was a option at the time between steels or 14 & 15 BBS ?

I have the original bill of sale which includes 5 BBS RA alloys and raised boot carpet. It does not state the size but unlikely that 5 x 15s have been replaced with 5 X 14s

done a bit more digging, looks like 8v's got 14" steel wheels up until Oct 1991 - so yes it does look you got them as an optional extra

just a pity it doesnt show the equipment levels in it!

Nice one thanks Gambit,

The original bill of sale also has a fire extinguisher and front and rear mudflaps which are missing. This car is a genuine 30k miles and a bit of a museum piece. Might go against the grain with some people that cars are to be driven and enjoyed but I love the car but will get little use

Fire extinguisher...dont see many of them in a mk2!

you still got the first aid kit in the boot also?

if its a 2nd car you'll do next to no miles in it anyway, or at least thats what ive found! mine has done about 400mile in the 4 years since it became my 2nd car lol previous to that it was doing 10k mile a year!

Hello Steve,
Is your car a 1991 or a 1992 model year?
Is there an M or an N in the chassis number before the W at the end before the numbers?
I presume a 1991 as back then the model years started in the October of the previous year.
If this is the case then 14" steelies were stock on the 8v.
Wheels were dealer fit options in those days and there was an Accessories brochure that listed what you could have.
15" BBS RA were never available from new for the 8v until they became standard for the 1992 model year run-out cars.
The fire extinguisher clipped to the seat mounting point of the passenger seat, limited life so anything truly correct will be out of date by now but understand why you need one.
Mudflaps would have been non-tailored and some usually came with little badges that clipped on.
