Golf Mk4 1.9 TDI turbo Whistling
« on: 12 December 2013, 16:34 »
was told when i bought the car that this was done due to a upgraded turbo still need to check if that is correct or not

it does not whistle all the time if you put your foot down it will whistle not mega loud but i hate the sound of it

can any one confirm this can be sorted out is there something that needs to be adjusted

i don't mind loosing a little HP if it stops

You need access to the admin menu of the MFA. From there you can get to the turbo adjustment settings. Sounds like the turbo signal attenuator maybe quite high.

Just to add to what JV said, to access the admin menu of the MFA you need to do the following:

1. Ignition on.
2. Twist left knob (by the clock) anti-clockwise and the right knob (by the mileage) clockwise.
3. While holding both knobs turn the ignition off again.
4. Release both knobs.
5. Twist both knobs again and while holding them turn the ignition on.
6. The menu should now appear.

Running a standard cat with upgraded turbo would be a total waste of time as the cat is so restrictive

Check your boost pipe connections for signs of oil. If there is oil residue them you got a boost leak

What BHP version is it?? Does it have a FMIC??

110 bhp

i presume by FMIC i can only guess front mount inter cooler ?? all I can say it looks standard but will check when i get home later on from work when i have more time to look at the car
