Bit of a problem, help needed please.
« on: 11 December 2013, 22:28 »
Hi all,

I've had a few problems in the last week or two

namely being when I first turn the car on it automatically revs itself to about 3000 revs then drops back down to idle, I've had two fault codes, the lambda sensor needs changing again and engine temp sensor is faulty as well would this cause it to rev?

Thanks,

Jack

Maybe, but get those faults fixed first as they'll be costing you a lot of fuel

I'm starting to wonder whether the lambda sensor is the actual fault as I only changed that two months ago, there is a strong smell of petrol at times so I guess this is consistent with that not working though?

I'm averaging 30.8MPG at the moment which with the miles I do is costing far too much!

Jack.

id guess that the engine temp sensor is making the engine over fuel....

could have a broken lambda too, not sure...

however, im sure ages ago someone said about temp senders being the cause of high idle on start up, but that was more like 1200 ish not 3k
