After doing searches on this and other forums im still not sure what oil my car needs. Its got 136000 on the clock and when the garage did the turbo they told me they put semi synth 10w40 in it, is this the right?

My cars a 2004 golf gt tdi 140

5w30 is the weight for TDI without DPF.

Make sure it's VAG PD specific.

Most garages will chuck 10w40 semi in anything purely as it's the cheapest possible oil. I can get a 200l barrel for £200. It's tempting at that price but barely anything uses it these days.
