Anyone with Panoramic sunroof..
« on: 29 November 2013, 00:14 »
Could anyone with a Panoramic sunroof do me a favour please? With the roof tilted, have a look in the opening from outside at where the roof mechanism is bonded to the body of the car, when i had mine i noticed that it was very untidy, the black primer that they use before applying the sealant that holds it in was all over the place!

I asked the dealership to find out if there was a trim piece missing as my brothers Roc has one which covers this area? But we never got that far after i'd seen the repair of the paintwork. :'(

I'm seriously considering adding it to my R but i'd like to know if there was a problem?

Cheers. :)

Seems all ok on mine. Post a picture so I know where you're talking about though.

Can't post a pic unfortunately mate, the car is still at the dealers 150 miles away until my private reg gets put back on retention, it's where the roof mechanism (not the actual glass) is bonded to the body going across the car.

Borrowed this pic from Kendo44, when standing at this sort of angle but with the roof just tilted rather than slid as it is in this picture, look in the opening across the body, and check if there is any black sealant or primer (looks like paint) on the body of the car? You won't be able to see it with the roof closed.

Sorry for being a bit vague, i'll see if i can get a pic of what i'm on about but it's gonna be a couple of weeks at least.

I've had a look at mine tonight with just the roof lifted up (not slid back). There is a nice tidy line of black rubberised sealant where the sunroof is bonded on to the body of the car. The sealant runs the full width of the join and is very tidy and I could see no messiness where sealant is over the paint work. Very tidy job to me.

Not as tidy as I was expecting, but it is mainly hidden!

I'd spec it again in a heartbeat. I rarely tilt it, but it brightens up the car interior and is virtually buffet-free when open - which is how I normally drive the car if it isn't raining.

Spec it Jimble. Makes the roof look 10x better even when not in use! I agree it also allows a lot of light into the cabin. I'll take a picture of mine later & post it to see how the job is on mine.
