You could try looking on eBay for a second-hand TomTom ONE v3 or 4.  These are have the square screen and are quite a bit smaller than the current models.  They will no longer take the full map updates from TomTom but there is no problems adding the latest PGPSW camera database.  This is updated very regularly and the ONE unit should easier to hide.

You can put the pocket gps database on the discover pro but no audible alerts.
If you have an iPhone that can give the alert to accompany the Pro map speed camera positions.
Clunky but works

Thanks, that looks a good option. If I can paint or wrap it and mount it face down on the side of the dash it wont look like a satnav so should be safe.  Will check the installation instructions on PocketGPS as some sanavs seem easier than others to load with the DB

Not sure why this is a disappointment.
Do any factory fit sat navs come with speed cams and audible warnings?

Yes, my qashqai does. It beeps and displays a message on the nav about the camera and the speed limit on the road.

Jealous. Just what we need.

Pretty shocking that we can't even add our own speed cameras with the standard nav though.
Current - MK7 Golf GTI - Tornado Red, 5 Door, DSG, Performance Pack, Dynamic Chasis Control, Panoramic Sunroof, Discover Navigation, Dynaudio.

On Order - MK7 Golf R - Pearlescent Black, 3 Door, DSG, Vienna Leather, Discover Nav Pro, Rear View Camera, High Beam Assist, Keyless Entry, Dynaudio (Tech Pack)

All gone.

Now;

MK7 Golf R - Lapiz Blue, 5 Door, DSG, Carbon Nappa, Discover Nav Pro.

As there is currently no way of doing this I bit the bullet and bought a Special Edition TomTom Start25 from Halfords - £99 for a UK and Western Europe map plus free lifetime map updates and a free HighPower USB charger in addition to the normal one.

Then subscribed to the PocketGPS DB and all is hunkydory - their warning of mobile camera sites is very good - had every one I knew in my area.

Pity I now have to have 2 SatNavs in the car but with each NIP coming in at a minimum of £100 money well spent.

I managed to build a hybrid mount system out of a Phone and a Tablet mount which enable me to screen mount the TomTom but with the device actually below the screen line so no interference with the view of the road - and it simply looks like I have a phone mount so no tea-leaf will have cause to smash their way in thinking I have a satnav in the glove box (no sucker signs on the screen)

£99 worse off but piece of mind restored

I highly recommend the free APP called CamSam.
I downloaded it to my Android before heading down to the Lake district a few weeks back and it never missed a camera.

Pics taken at eye level
1. With TomTom mounted - completely below the dash/bonnet level

2. Without TomTom - in practice there is no restriction to the view of the road

Holder is made up of screen mount from this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181183170438?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

And jaws unit from

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331073496115?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

The jaws unit has the same fitting as the Tablet mount so is interchangeable.

It is likely that by searching Ebay you could find a single mount which combines both.  I had one and bought the dash mount hoping to use just that but there was not enough adjustment on the dash mount to view the TomTom straight on so I used the Tablet mount and it positions perfectly
