Engine Number
« on: 25 November 2013, 21:27 »
Evening

I bought a Mk3 GTi 16V anniversary a couple of months back, I love it.

Put it into a local specialist for a timing belt change and it seems that the engine has an aircon pump on it but no aircon.

Therefore I have to assume the engine has changed?

Where can I find the engine number so I can cross reference it with the V5 for starters, then is it possible to trace the engine history if it has been changed?

Thanks

Graeme

You'll find the engine number on the sticker on the cam pulley cover, or if that's missing then on the block somewhere...

Should be on the front of the block just underneath the head gasket joint.
