Yea I'm glad I never paid them for it !

I'm going to solder the pins again my self in the morning and hope or else I'm changing the ecu

Also check under the socket as it may have tracks on both sides of the PCB. hopefully the chip will be ok but it is possible to damage both chip and ECU if the tacks are not soldered correctly or they have dry joints.
New toy1990 Scirocco I feel a 16v conversion coming on.

Right I checked all pins on the chip against the motherboard with a bolt metre and every pin is making contact from the pin to where the other end if the board goes as such

So my ecu is pronounced dead , even caf come won't read it anymore !

New ecu going in tomorrow and its going to a proper mapping company down the road I didn't even know about for a custom map

I would save your money, on a 1.8 any gain will be tiny.

I completely agree with you , BUT I'm attached to the car and dont want to change it so even for a small gain I'm willing to give it ago

Ecu swapped over this evening but seem to have a problem with my timing now

Sure its timed up right but will check in the morning

Revs up fine from standstill but takes a while to start and pops and bang lots and is very very slow

Seems strange, is it the correct ecu for the year/model
