Ecu chipped now car won't start
« on: 22 November 2013, 19:47 »

As I have 8v the ecu has to be chipped and soldered in

So I went to a computer specialist and they soldered a EPROM socket in for me and I fitted the chip in but now have no spark or fuel.

Now the solders's couldn't get solder on to 3pins so this is probably my fault but

My question is - is the chip the right way round in the socket as I'm not sure if they soldered the socket in the right way round

And what's the chance of it being blank ?

There is a little triangle cut out piece underneath the chip that is pin 1 if it is not soldered properly the chip wont work or u might have a blank chip alls i can suggest is either u get it resoldered in again or put the old chip back in

Have the chips out but can see a triangle just the b!tches in the end of the chip.

When they removed my old chip they broke a leg and has bits of solder on so can't get the original one back in

I've read that with vagcom its fairly straight forward to swap the ecu?

Need it back on the raid ASAP and I'm well put off this chip nuisances now

Only this morning I've discovered that there is infact a new chip tuning company about 2 miles away so fingers crossed they'll undertake the installation of another companies product.
Failing that I've just made an enquiry with a local TV / HIFI repair specialist that appear to know their electronics pretty damn well.

They should do. TSR up the road from me do. Just labour cost to them.

Pulled a code out of it today saying ecu wiring fault so its something to do with the chip Or soldering

So I'm going to try find someone or else or will have to Chang the ecu

Found the procedure on vagcom

This procedure details how to swap engine control modules on VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda vehicles with Immobilizer I.
Contents [hide]
1 Determining IMMO-ID
2 ECU Swapping
Determining IMMO-ID

[Select]
[25 - Immobilizer]
or in vehicles with Immobilizer included in Instrument Cluster
[17 - Instruments]
Look at the first "Extra" field. You should see something like: Immo-ID VWZ7Z0W0648696.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

ECU Swapping

Prerequisites:
Battery voltage at least 12.0 V.

[Select]
[25 - Immobilizer]
or in vehicles with Immobilizer included in Instrument Cluster
[17 - Instruments]
[Login - 11]
4-digit PIN
Enter zero followed by the 4-digit PIN. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234.
[Do it!]

[Adaptation - 10]
Channel 000
[Read]
[Save]
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
Switch OFF the ignition and after 5 seconds switch it ON again.
Make sure NOT to start the car within the next 2 minutes. After that, try starting the engine.

But how do I get the pin that's spoken off ?
