They are lightweight 17inch Borbets - German make, TUV approved for the Golf, offset is 40mm - near as dammit the same as the Austins.

If you go for secondhand VAG/Audi wheels you need to be sure the offset will allow the wheels to clear the 340mm PP brake calipers.  For standard GTi you can go down to 16s for winters as they will clear standard 312mm brake calipers

I don't think the calipers are that size... I believe it is the rotors (although it is the calipers that are likely to be in the way...)

Secondly, it is worth mentioning to insurance company that you have non-standard wheels on the car... some are not interested... but some will be...

I was referring to the need to clear the calipers for the 340mm brakes not that the calipers are 340mm wide.

Are these the Broolkyns? In here they come as standard. 7.5 Jx17, isn't it? The offset is 49 I think...

I'm waiting for my PP with Brooklyns (standard here) and they look exactly like those you bought. So they definitely fit with the 340mm brakes and (as it seems) Borbet is a major provider of wheels to the VW group.

Best I can do at the moment, pic from when I did an early test fit to make sure the wheels cleared the calipers

Both designs make for some cool winters

Good to see some Pescaras on a Mk 7 as well, they're just a classic GTI design in my opinion
