don't worry about auto hold and e brake, they both work perfectly. you don't need to touch any buttons, just drive the car.

Just thought of something, not an annoyance just a slight disappointment - I really loved the red submarine lighting overhead that bathed the gear stick area in a nice warm red light in the MK5-6 and Scirocco.

Before you all cry "but the MK7 has beautiful ambient lighting", yes I know, but with everything (at least in a non GTI) being black with white lighting, it looks just a little..........sterile ?

I'm serious considering removing the LED foot well lights (don't think they are that bright anyway), re-coding them back to standard foot well lights via VCDS, and replacing them with my old Scirocco's Red LED footwell bulbs. When turned down to about 20% when driving, it just gave a really nice warn red glow (not too bright), then when you openend the door they would go to full brightness and even though they were red, they were considerably brighter than the LED ones fitted to the GTD / GTI's.

Hmmm, might give this a go next weekend and see how it looks and post some photos up here. I'm sure it will be a marmite thing

Norbreck21A:

Blue is probably reserved for the “R”. maybe a green glow would have been quite smart – Green Jedi lightsaber shade to contrast the GTI’s sith red lightsaber shade. Purple might also look smart. White is fine, but a bit of colour might have been better.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I miss that feature from the mk5 and mk6's I've owned too. That was a nice touch.
I do like the replacement lighting on the GTI's though and the red door stripes are awesome and the white GTD lighting is just too much white inside so I think your suggestion is a really good one.
On the GTI or should I say 'in the GTI' you have the contrast of the red stripe and the neat white door handle LED's in white which is all monochrome on the GTD and I think that's a shame.

Get a bit of unwanted attention from some Saturday night heroes.
I drive swiftly but not hanging it out everywhere and never put other drivers in a potential crash big or small
I mean I had some tw@t in a Vauxhall MPV would not let it go and just had to get ahead of me.
Same drive about 10 mins later(both in late, dark rush hour) had a last mk Focus ST just had to try claim their prize both of them undertaking.
Funny thing was the MPV nearly forced me off the road cutting me up from behind and getting ahead but I just put my foot down and left the ST behind.
What is it with some people?
Mk7 Gti.5dr.Deep black pearl,PP,acc,nav pro,pano roof,leather,winter pack,dynaudio.Rather nice.

Auto headlights switch on way too early.

Mpg is at best 10% up on the mk6, not the 18% VW claim not that it's particularly bad just that VW have exaggerated it a bit too much in the way Ford and others normally do. Very un VW like. I've done 7k, 36 long term average - manual.

Apart from that I love this car to bits, I look forward to driving it every day and it does everything I want it too, very well and with style.  By far the best car I have ever owned.
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.
