What's annoying me the most just now is thinking that i should have been more patient and waited for the R to come out especially given the price.
I think coming from a 200bhp TT, the GTI is not giving me that excitement power wise that i thought it might do purely based on the big step up in torque. It doesn't feel any quicker than my old car which is a bit of a let down. I'll maybe go and test drive an R when a demo arrives but to be honest i very much doubt i would be trading up straight away given the depreciation in the first year.
It's still a fantastic car in terms of looks and technology, and I'll hold on to it for three years i reckon but thereafter illl look to see what else is out there. Whatever i decide to get next (circumstances allowing, it will have to be at least 250bhp plus
They've mapped all the fun out of the engine. This car NEEDS a remap. No arguments!!!
On another note, Jimble's car is a GTI and a lot of the compliments on the DSG are from the Diesel boys (and girls!!) and I have always thought the DSG is more suited to the narrow power band of the TDI better (and also strangely the R32 which also really suits DSG). I much prefer my GTIs in manual.
And the gear knob looks better!!!!

Then again I didn't want DSG as I drive so many different cars and vans all of which are manual I'd just have a left leg flapping in the air all the time when I drove a DSG GTI!!

It's bad enough having a left hand waving about looking for a handbrake all the time without a left leg too - passengers would think I had an electric wire going up my arse...
