i would seriously doubt if there is a hardware change to implement this minor mod (although obviously that's what all dealers would tell us - stops us asking difficult questions which they can't answer
). Probably more a firmware update to the door control modules to "add" this feature.
The door modules already have access to a permanent live from Terminal 15, so would be pretty easy to achieve by VW with a minor software mod. It still might even be possible with pre WK45 cars, as most of the bits and bytes for both the central electronics and door modules have yet to be fully and accurately mapped.
