These aren't real world driving reviews and they don't mean anything. These type of reviews all love rear wheel drive BMWs cos you can hang the tail out on the track. Try pushing a powerful rear wheel drive car on normal country roads and you'll soon change the colour of your trousers!!

Love how he slates the Golf and its electronic safety systems then in the group test wanks all over the safety systems in that!!!

Yes they are different cars but as others have said if you are driving at Needell speeds on the public highway you will need all the help you can get

finally just watched this with the wife and it is funny how in the space of 10 mins the hate and love for esp appears

I bought a GTi because I wanted a car:
  • My wife could go shopping in
  • I could take the mother-in-law out in at the weekend
  • That could be fun for me and have staggering performance and still be safe
What I didn't want is a car:
  • That tried to shake my kidneys out
  • That attract every boy racer to a traffic challenge
  • That was painted bright orange and so attracted police attention
  • To belt round a race track and drift in bends
I was surprised that there was no option to have the car without badges and I am still thinking of de-badging it.

That's this GTi buyer's reasons for purchase. Fifth Gear? I've got 6...

Who actually cares what some has been hack thinks?? It's a sh1t show anyways, on a cr@p channel and hardly anyone watches it! All that matters is if you like the car - which if you haven't got your hands on it yet, trust me you will!  If you have got yours, you know it's the nuts!

Spot on!!!

Well... you got two out of three... whilst they're reasonably quick, I wouldn't say the performance is "staggering"...

That review was totally ridiculous concluding the GTI is no good because the ESP cannot be deactivated. Im sure Tiff has missed the point of a hot hatch......real world driving for the average person to have fun in a safe car which does not cost a fortune to buy or run. Not to scream around corners sidewards with the rear tyres smoking.

I agree if id wanted to buy a hatch which goes sidewards around a local roundabout just before the police give me some points and a fine id buy a BMW and not a Golf.

Another typical racing driver review based on track performance

When will journos realise that the majority of car buyers will never take their cars on a track.

Its rather ironic that they then go on later in the show to praise the Fiesta BMax for its high tech driver aids

5th Gear is no longer on prime time TV.
I think that speaks for itself regarding it's content and quality.
I have been surprised it lasted so long.
It utter 5hit!
