Don't know if anyone is interested in this but I will keep updating as it may help others with what seems an absolute t**t of a problem .
Fitted new cam follower and thrust sensor yesterday and still no joy. Thinking now it's either one of the pumps but my mechanic is gonna run some tests before we go any further .
I have loved golfs for the last 20 yrs and when I buy my first it's a lemon, will get there in the end.

Have you replaced the diverter valve?

That's also next thing to check .  Do u think that would cause total loss of throttle response tho ? As it's easy to check I will and am expecting it to be split .

Not a complete loss but the fact you are experiencing loss of power under full load would seem to indicate a split DV  :undecided:

Alright lads ,

After taking my car to a vw/audi specialist who lives locally and does guvvys in his garage , he vagcomed it and had a good check over .  The camshaft was slightly scored but he said its 50 50 whether it's the hpfp or shaft,  with the pump being the easiest and cheapest to try first we did and get the f *#k in its fixed . Well happy .
So I hope this thread can help anyone who in the future encounters similar problems . I suspected all along that the camshaft would need replacing as I always feared worse case scenario, as it's scored it's always going to be in the back of my mind but the code readers are all saying no faults so if it's driving well I am happy .
