Passenger Window Won't Go Down
« on: 26 October 2013, 01:12 »
As per the title really. My passenger front window was working just fine until tonight where when I put it up and tried to have it down again, there was a loudish noise and I could hear the motor doing its thing but the window remained up.

When pressing the switch up and down I can hear it doing its full movement as if the window was in.

Is this a simple fix or a ballache? I'm guessing the window has come free from the runner or something?

It's worth noting I installed wind deflectors yesterday, is it possible that the window has latched into that?

Could have a broken window clip and you got lucky it got jammed in the closed position

Whip off the door card and remove the rubber inspection cover for a better look

Just inspected it further and turns out it was lodged away from the runner.

Held in in place and pushed down whilst pushing the window down button and it went back into place.

I removed the wind deflector to see if it is that and sadly it is.

I'm trying to get a refund from the seller first, if not then yes.

Try tightening the clip that holds the glass first

I'll be honest, I've looked at tutorials for the window clips and it looks like it's fiddly.

Plus I would be better getting metal clips to replace the "poor" plastic clips.

Is there not just a screw on the clip to tighten in? Mine now has metal ones and they do

In all honesty I haven't had a look but assuming the ones I have are plastic surely tightening the screw will only cause it to fail sooner by adding extra stress to it?

I can live without deflectors for now. Assuming I can get a refund, if not I may look into replacing the clips with metal ones and ensuring a decent fit.
