just got off the phone with the dealer and i am pick up saturday

Seems our dealer was going to sort out our private plate transfer but as things have changed at the dvla we have had to send it off to get the plate put on retention from the old car, seems we have to wait for the certificate until we can get the new car

Gutted for your delay, but is it not quicker to get them to register the car with a 63 plate and then put your plate on later?

Yes, best option would have been to get the car on 63 plate and then sort your private plate out yourself at a later date.
It can cause upto 2 weeks delay in some cases waiting on DVLA.

darn  dealer should have sent off for a transfer/retention earlier, unfortunately you are now at the peril of DVLA and how busy they might be.
