Few problems with my golf :(
« on: 16 October 2013, 17:00 »
Firstly, it sometimes won't start straight away when warm, but starts fine when cold? Been told it could be engine temp sensor or coolant temp sensor?

Secondly, I've been through 3 drive shafts in a year... My car is quite low on adjustable coilovers. How do the rest of you not go through driveshafts like that? I'm not wheel spinning either. Is there any up rated parts I need to buy to be that low?

Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks

I was going to say, are you just blindly replacing drive shafts on a "oops there goes another drive shaft" basis? Surely it's a rubbing issue and that should be sorted before another one is fitted. ANY decent mechanic, or anybody who knows anything about cars could point out where it's rubbing. Have a look, it's not easy to see without getting under the car/turning the wheels/getting wet and covered in grit, but its worth a look.

Any noise? Vibrations?
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

Hot start is symptomatic of a failing crank angle (engine speed) sensor.

Chewing up driveshafts?  Isn't that also known as lows tax?!     Don't keep throwing money at it, get it looked over at a VW specialist.  Where you at?

Cheap driveshafts are also renowned for giving up very easily.

Chassis notch and/or R32 droplinks. Search for them using the search function.

Colt Start, like advised crank angle sensor.
