soaking wet boot!!

Noticed recently that the boot was soaking wet!! Took out the boot floor and found this gromit/plug on the passenger side that was soaked and along the side of the boot was drenched!! Does anyone know what this is?? See pics

be the air vent behind the bumper no doubt, below the rear light i believe... proberbly needs re-sealing.

I had a similar problem, when stripping the rear interior out it became apparent my car had had a rear end crash in the past. The back panel had not been pulled out enough so there was a gap between the boot lid and the back panel which was letting water in :rolleyes:

That's an extreme case but I tried resealing the bumper vents to no avail. Does your rear window washer work? It's common for a join in the pipe to come apart at the top of the c-pillar, when you try and wash your rear screen it just runs down into the boot.

Funny you say that about a previous crash because after I got mine I noticed that the rear bumper doesn't line up with the rear panel on either side and sticks out by about 2mm not much but I notice it all the time.

When I bought it they said they had replaced the passenger door because or crash damage so god knows what happened to it :huh:

I'll have a look see if there's anything around there letting water in.

With the rear bumper of mine off you could fit your fingers through the gap where the boot should have been sealing. It was also immediately obvious where the repair had been, I'd take the rear bumper off and take a look.

Remove your rear lights and check the gaskets.
