intermittent petrol gauge

Hey Guys,

First problem with my new purchase...put £30 petrol in last night gauge showed half a tank this morning half a tank again the went to empty, left it for 30 mins and looked and it was back up to half..

any ideas what would cause this?

Cant help you there sadly. Think you can access it from the boot though. Under the carpet should be a round hatch which unscrews

As Rhyso says it's likely to be the sender which is attached to the bottom of the fuel pump. You can access the pump which is under the rear seats. I'd try giving the sender a clean as a first step, just make sure you haven't got a full tank of fuel before hand.

thanks dom, tank is half full, is this an easy job for a novice? what do you clean it with?
