280 brake upgrade
« on: 30 September 2013, 20:27 »
I see this is the most suggested brake conversion, but what sort of power is this useful to? If doing a brake upgrade I only want to do it once, planning on running about 220 bhp after a conversion but would want to be brake safe up to 300 for potential power upgrades. 4 stud also.

SEAT brakes will take you to 312mm.... not sure if they're 4-stud though?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Yes they are four stud if you specify 2000 Ibiza platform. You will need calipers and carriers to suit aswell.

Will 312mm fit within 15" alloys?

 haha will 280 fit then? Looks like the best set up for my needs is a seat LCR master cylinder as it doesn't spoil on a 20vt, then some 280 disks after replacing hub and calipers, Braided brake lines also. Is that an alright set up?

The 2000-2001 Ibiza Cupra R is fitted with 4stud 305mm discs and Brembo 4pot calipers, of which you'll need 16" wheels minimum, unless you can get hold of some Compomotive MO's in 15", as I've heard they'll fit.  They are pricey though.

The G60 280mm set-up would be fine for a 20v conversion as it's simply a set of discs and calipers, but if you wanted a bit more oomph then have a look for some Audi S2 calipers as they are a twin piston set-up as opposed to the single piston on the 16v/G60.  The braided hoses are a must.

Dont spit at me but a five stud set up from scrapper Mk3 will run 288mm front brakes and give a few other benefits.
Thats if you can live with yourself
