silicone hoses

Can someone please explain the benefits of silicone hoses if there are any other than just looking pretty.

Due to their contruction they will last longer than standard hoses and withstand a lot more pressure before rupturing.

They are 3-4 ply usually and don't expand with boost or collapse with vacuum like standard ones can

Personally I would leave them on a standard car. Stock items are more than up to the job.

So if you were to run an increase in power (say, 25% over stock) then swapping to silicon would be a good move?

Yes it would, it's why our cooler kits come with silicone pipes, they take pressure much better so an increase in boost is certainly a time to change.

Most factory boost pipes split with age and then standard levels of boost alone.

Coolant pipe silicones are mainly for looks, coolant pipes don't often fail unless they're rubbing

thanks, all I've got to do now is find a set of standard rubber hoses for my early K-Jet EV engine then, so far only found for PB digi engine. Anyone know what's different?
