lower air intake

i brought some of those lower air intake/brake cooling things for the lower bumper and havent installed them yet. i got some 100mm wide pipe to run upto the air box but theres not alot of space for it all.

im wondering weather to buy some smaller diameter piping, i belive i need about 80mm wide to fit the vent, or if its even worth the hassle. i dont particularly like the looks of the things lol, but got them for the air benefits but do they really make enough difference to buy some more piping?

Best mod for standard airbox performance. 

You need to move the carbon canister to the other side of the bay. Messure the hose diameters and buy 2 metres of each with 2 connecters.

Then you will have all the room you need.

Get some 80mm piping and run it from the driverside vent,you need to move/junk a horn to make way ,you will need to relocate the  outside air temp sensor aswell because its mounted in the standard grill/vent

I've just fitted some bonrath ones (just need to do 1 screw on each, couldn't do at the time cos car sat too low and I couldn't get drill under to pilot holes, lol) and I found that the k and n tubing fitted inside the hole, just about  :whistle:

As I had 2 of the tubes, drivers runs to induction kit and other runs cold air to engine,

I had to pull the horn towards the opening to get the knn tube round the back and zip tied the
Amb temp sensor to the horn loom,

Reckon the knn stuff is max 80mn diameter and it went round ok, so think you'll be fine.. :)

ill order some pipe then and try tackle this at the weekend,

has any one noticed a difference it makes?

Tbh I found it hard to tell much difference ,better the faster you go as I suppose it acts like a ram air intake.
Just don't go wading  :laugh:

From drilled box to modified box with 80mm hole in box replcing the smaller 60mm hole with cold air feed I noticed between 5/10mph difference down a 1.3 mile straight. I did 10 runs with each airbox.

Engine was a cammed 2.0 8v agg


Well worth doing.
