Tension Fault Poll
« on: 20 September 2013, 11:26 »
So we all know about this problem. But i'm just trying to see how many out of us have been affected by this.

I'm going to try and build a case to put to VW and would appreciate if you could vote so i can generate some numbers for my case.

I've enabled the poll so you can change your vote if you're unlucky enough for it to fail after voting.

Hopefully this might put our minds to rest if the failure rate is minimal.

So i'll start this off with a No. (touch wood)

And thanks for your help!

i dont know if a poll is the right idea. most people will say no as its only been a few people on here.

Its more the potential of failing that needs to be addressed, and getting plenty of name and signatures saying they wont be buying a new VW if they dont do a recall.

Because at the end of the day thats what we all want.

Yes you're right, but at this stage i'm just trying to get a feeling for numbers.

I'm the same, we're due to change the Mrs's car and we won't be buying a VW for the time being.

We would have considered a GtD if it wasn't for the ridiculous lead times, as such we are buying another BMW.

As you know my engine was replaced, although it hadn't failed.
So i've voted Yes as it should be a recall IMHO and i'm still not best pleased about the whole scenario.

FYI. My Camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor flagged up during routine service, tensioner found to be at fault, chain had stretched and eaten into the casing contaminating the engine resulting in the complete engine change, incl. Turbo, intercooler and everything else that runs on the engine oil system. No indications but now i have a new engine i know i was hearing something on start up. 34000 miles on a 59 plate, final bill to me £715 + vat.

I've said yes still awaiting engine strip to confirm but they have already pre ran a new engine with VW, so it's looking likely and cam error has registered.

+1 here as well something needs to be done. I bet there is a much larger number from people who don't visit forums and so these are all going un noted. I feel they need to have a set policy in place so when this does happen us, the customer has an idea of outcomes and price. Not having to haggle and the potential of Germany turning down a good will.

Personally any one worrying I would ask for the above in writing from VWUK, if there is no issue then they won't mind putting that in writing. But for Germany to say they will send me an engine in 15 mins for FREE tells me they have seen a few of these and that decision has been made before!
