Wheel painting
« on: 16 September 2013, 22:18 »
how much is it to get wheels painted? Just picked up a set of ats cups and wanted to paint them like this.
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ats+cups&safe=off&client=safari&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=fHQ3UtiMMsSm4gT9-oBw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAA&biw=1024&bih=672&dpr=1#biv=i%7C6%3Bd%7CgBf76fgQi9wJMM%3A
Was going to paint and refurb them myself but if its reasonable to pay for professional job then I will.

Do you have a compressor? HVLP gun? A steady hand? You may baulk at 200.00 but that wouldn't even but a decent top coat gun. You could rattle can it but you get what you pay for in that it won't last long compared to proper paint.

Personally if I were getting wheels refurbished I'd get them powdercoated as it looks better and lasts longer would probably cost the same for a proper job or you could get them done cheaper but the finish suffers.

I already own a decent compressor and gun. I thought about power counting but I don't want just a single colour.

Speaking as a former powder coater/ painter I would two tone wheels every day.

Speak to your local place see if they can help
